NB2 is a private recreational project nestled within a residential complex, dedicated to the passion of skateboarding. Designed to foster camaraderie and enjoyment, NB2 offers a unique space ideally savored with friends, especially during the serene hours of sunset, when the warm hues of the setting sun cast a magical glow on the surroundings.
Architectural Design
Situated on a single level, NB2 revolves around its central element, the skate bowl, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to “surf on concrete.” Complemented by essential amenities, the layout comprises two distinct blocks separated by a verdant garden. One block houses a BBQ area and a living room, providing a vantage point to observe the skating activity, while the other block accommodates essential facilities such as bathrooms and a cellar.
Material Selection and Construction
Guided by budget constraints, materials were meticulously chosen, encompassing a palette of grey, black, and green tones. Polished cement dominates the surface and the bowl, harmonizing with the black metal structure and roof. The design ethos prioritizes durability and minimal maintenance, ensuring longevity and functionality while avoiding the need for frequent repairs.
Integration with the Environment
The architectural design seamlessly integrates with the local climate, characterized by heavy rains and intense sunlight. Expansive covers provide shelter and frame the bowl and garden, while thermal insulation mitigates temperature fluctuations. Strategically located in a corner of the lot, the service block fosters community interaction, featuring two independent accesses and optimizing privacy for users.
Skatepark Layout
The bowl’s strategic positioning optimizes ground space while ensuring efficient rainwater drainage. Ramps along the longitudinal side serve as warm-up areas, enhancing the skating experience. Benches, strategically placed under the shade of palm trees, offer respite and a vantage point for spectators, fostering a sense of community and leisure.
