Spotify, the Swedish music streaming platform, has initiated a new programme aimed at promoting emerging podcasters globally, including in India, offering them support to expand their audiences.
Introducing RADAR Podcasters
The ‘RADAR Podcasters’ programme has been launched in 15 global markets, including India, following the format of Spotify’s ‘RADAR’ initiative, which assists up-and-coming artists.
Furthermore, Spotify has unveiled the initial lineup of podcasters selected to be featured in the RADAR programme.
Spotlight on Indian Podcasters
The first three podcasts from India chosen for the RADAR programme include ‘Anurag Minus Verma,’ ‘Chumma conversations with Satshyaa,’ and ‘Getting Lost with Archit and Shirin: All About Food.’
In India, Spotify plans to highlight a different local language every three months, with Tamil being the focus for the next round of the initiative. Tamil has seen significant growth on Spotify in India, both in music and podcasts.
Quarterly Spotlight
Participating markets will shine a spotlight on two to three emerging creators every quarter, selected from the vast pool of podcasters using Anchor, Spotify’s podcast creation platform.
Through this programme, Spotify aims to showcase over 40 creators worldwide, particularly in countries where podcasting is experiencing rapid growth.
Selection Criteria
Spotify’s Podcast team in participating markets will carefully choose three up-and-coming creators each quarter based on various criteria. They will prioritize creators whose shows demonstrate authenticity, inclusivity, continuous engagement, educational value, and entertainment.
By offering support and recognition to emerging podcasters, Spotify hopes to foster a diverse and vibrant podcasting community while providing listeners with fresh and engaging content.
